According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine a subsidiary of the National Institute of Health (NIH), 38% of Americans will use an alternative medical practitioner sometime in their lifetime; and this number is expected to grow. In response, the NIH has set up dual R25 grants that help allopathic physicians learn more about complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practices and funded CAM institutions to train their practitioners in the ways of evidence-based practice and research literacy.
